Kluivert for £15.8 million seems like a bargain.

He's a mere 19, a record of one goal per four games as a winger for Ajax and one in three last season. I can't see him ever losing value!

Looked lightweight 12 months ago but has bulked up a bit but still perhaps not quite ready for our league.

At that age though, he would have joined our other 21s and we would begin to see a new team, within a team emerge.

Hopefully we target at least 2 u21 players in positions we dont currently have them coming through.

Compare Ederson to Pickford,
Both are roughly the same age and transferred at about the same time. most stats are very close. Unfortunately for us we don't have the same strength with our defence as city which plays a huge part
if Pickford was at city and won the league with them would he then be worth the price we paid?
I think the hype around him is warranted, can't think of another English keeper his age who's decent apart from Jack Butland and at a stretch Nick Pope

Can't compare him to ederson because ederson is miles better, you can't think of another decent English keeper because there's no such thing, they're all [Poor language removed] and even then pope is still probably better.

Pickford is just this decades Chris Kirkland

Look at the stats mate, set aside the goals conceded and they are very close.
Ederson has made his share of mistakes this season but he's redeemed it by winning the league
Again that's why there is so much hype about him then, Pickfords not the finnished article but he's going to be class, then if the rumours of Bayern Munich looking at him we will more than double what we payed for him.
Remember Roma want £79million for Alisson... good keeper but not worth that much

Pickford is top class. Compare him to De Gea at the same age.

Apparently we have signed Wilmar Barrios for Eur 16mn.

Nope, me neither.........

Few articles on the web about him a couple of weeks ago...very highly rated apparently.

While I agree that it would have been a great signing to join our U23 squad, unfortunately I don't think that would have been a realistic prospect.

He's gained a good reputation over at Ajax in their starting XI - his family name will only add to this - so I expect he wanted a big name move.

Add to that, I'd also expect that he'll be wishing to start relatively regularly, like he did at Ajax, and therefore a development role wouldn't suit.

Saying that, will he start regularly at Roma? I'm not too sure but their name and the less physical nature of their league will certainly have helped.

I'm sure Brands and Co. will have some youth options on the radar, however our first team XI needs a redraft so that'll be where their attentions lay.

I didnt write that he should be in the u23s.

Sure, at that age de gea had been gk of the year twice, Fifa team of the year, save of the season 3 years running and a premier league title winner. Not to mention the countless accolades from Utd and the Spanish set up. :coffee:

You’ve absolutely done him there, ruthless lol

7th November 1990
7th March 1994

So season 13/14 De Gea would have been 4monhs older than Pickford is now...

De Gea wouldnt have even been capped...so not sure what you mean by acolades in the Spain set up?

He wasnt in the United side for 3 seasons...so how could he have won save of the season?

Im confused lol

You do realise de gea is only 3 years older than him.

So we'd be talking season 14/15, either way it's ludicrous to compare Jordan Kirkland to de gea

Not much transfer activity about to be fair.

With the exception of dildo fc who are snapping up about 6 or 7 new recruits for about 2-300m.

Has to be the sort of smoke and mirrors we became accustomed to before signing a few free transfers and extending one or two contracts...

He isnt though is he...ive listed the dates they were born there.

If you dont want to go on years + months then go on years...4 years.

Come on, youre better than this lol

I see Arsenal have just signed Leno. The thing is, he isn’t actually that good.

He is actually a good goalie, who's just hung around Leverkusen for far too long, he should have gone 2 or 3 season ago. His problem has been complacency. I get the feeling that a new challenge is what he will need if he's willing to work for it. He was a fantastic goalie, 2nd only to ter Stegen in that age group a few years ago. But while he moved and challenged himself and developed into one of the best. Leno didn't, and he's just been cruising along.

I think it is a good move for him and for Leverkusen actually.
