Chelsea sort of look like the club I'd like us to be. Very very competent people behind the scenes, a great academy (with lots of investment), shrewd negotiators, ruthless etc. They've kind of made themselves into how a big club thinks, the Russians money is helpful but as you say they are very sustainable. Even last season with no Russian money, 3rd and a cup final. Some effort really.

It also helps that before FFP they were absolutely unsustainable in laying the platform for the current setup.

How often are City pinned back defending crosses being repeatedly flung in? They need guys that can move first. Ideally yes they would do both but I can see the thinking.
