Player Valuation: £40m
I have my reservation about yak and I've set a target of 15 goal in order for me to justify his price tag. First game, first goal, things are looking good. Even though it's a tap in I'm glad he got off to a flying start. I may have to eat my words and swallow some pie if he can prove me wrong. Watch this space.

I've also predicted mad dog will get us 10 assist. He got one today, things are looking good. Especially when they double up on arteta we can still release the ball to gravy and watch him produce his magical pass. So much more variety with our attacking play I'm getting excited!!

he nearly had two assists, johnson was unlucky to see jaaskalinen save in a one vs one when he got onto a top through ball.

You ae not the only one worried about the Yak, just hope he isn't the Yuk. As for TG wanted him back here since he left RM, love his commitment, his strength and his ability to get others moving. He was doing all of that before he left us, at RM he became a little fish in a huge pool, at Celtic you don't talk back to Strachan it goes over his head(y)

Johnson just needs a goal and everything will be flying in for him, even with a miskick.

Agree.. Seing today how Anelka slammed home his one chance, and see AJ miss his.. isn't a good feeling, especially when we all know what he can do when he have his confidence.. I just wish he could put one in to get his touch back.

i think aj is the one who is going to prosper from are signings more than any one.

he aint going to have 2/3 defenders on his case all game any more!! and artetr will get the space if grave carrys on what he did today.

so put youre money on aj for top prem goal scorer now while hes good odds!!!!

I understand the feelings on Yak, so okay the goal was a tap in but you are missing the point here. He was in the right place at the right time, how many of Jimmy Greaves goals were in the 6 yard box and what about Lineker. Fairs, fair give Yak some credit and a few more games.

What you say is perfectly true Robert but if you had received so many derisory comments about the guy from people who's opinions you respect then yes you will have concerns:mellow:

I have concerns and on another post I likened him to Heskey so have not got rose tinted glasses on. When a certain Mr Gray joined us did you think from the off just the ticket or did you have "concerns". I do hope that it will not turn out to be another BT and a much more expensive one.

When we signed Gray I, like many other Blues, thought it was a desperation purchase, Howard was signing a has been to cover while Shapie came through. That tosser has never once thanked EFC or Howard for resurrecting his career and even then he played no more than a dozen decent games for us but he wines and dines as though he was another Dean who single handedly saved EFC:angry:

Thats is virtually word for word what I have already said mate, here's hoping(y)

Yakubu has nothing to prove in the Premiership as far as I'm concerned. If he doesn't score goals for us then it's our fault.

I assume that would be for signing him...................he hasn't proved a thing in the Prem for months until Saturday!

What I mean is that he had 61 goals in 154 Premiership games for Portsmouth and Middlesborough. If you take away his 'sulk' (which I admit is a whole other problem but we are talking about goals here) from the end of last season then he's close to a 1 in 2 man. If he doesn't score goals for us then it's the team's fault not his. (Unless, of course, he's having a sulk).

My Dad was watching SSC with Jeff Stelling yesterday and Paul Walsh was on. Charlie Nicholas was watching our game. This is how the conversation went at about 3:10.

PW: I don't think Yakubu will score many goals for Everton.
CN: Well, I need to tell you something, he just has.

Cue much laughing and piss-taking. Walsh's face was a picture my Dad says. What a [Poor language removed].

Sulk's can last weeks, months or years. If you don't know what brings them then you won't know how to stop them but in between time we will have spent a huge chunk of money. I, like every other Blue, hope and pray that it will work out for him at GP but there is a gamble involved on a player who when I last watched him play on the box was moody, out of condition and clearly pissed with everything around him. He is now at GP, the ground with the greatest list of C/F in the land, he has a hell of a lot to live up to, he will have to get fit, he will have to improve his stamina, he will have to keep up his scoring ratio hence my concerns continue and will do so until I see something that with forestall them.(y)

Aye, I'm concerned too. In the sense that we've paid a lot of money and I want desperately to see it work. What I'm saying is that IF it doesn't work we shouldn't automatically blame the player alone.
