Incidentally the title is accidentally misspelled and could refer to a special sort of onion-sauce (quite tasty too; lyonnaise can refer to all sorts cooking processes with onions/ or a special kind of pétanque ...).

...embarrassing in its own right but sadly our EL campaign might not have done us any favours on all fronts this season.

Unsworth is fighting for the job but Watford at Home is looking much more of a priority now. I went to Lisbon when we got spanked a few years ago but still had a great trip, hoping those travelling to Lyon have a safe and enjoyable time regardless of the result.

..I would normally disagree but I’m sure Unsworth would prefer a full weeks preparation for the Watford game. Lyon demonstrated they are a better team than us so logic leads me to only one conclusion.

A clean sheet in this one though would help. Good organisation at the back would be something to get right and to carry that into premier league.

Lyon don't look anything special, but neither do we at the moment.

Could go either way, but I don't fancy us for it.

Shame we can't send a team of kids out there, premier league is our absolute priority now.

I wasn't impressed with Lyon at all at Goodison, as bad as we are they were fortunate that night although they could be an entirely different proposition away from home.

I would play Sandro, Klaasen and Vlasic from the start; the first two need more opportunities and this is the right kind of zero pressure match for young Vlasic to get over his mistake in the Arsenal game. I think Lookman should get solid involvement as well.
