Whitlock - the utter BS jingoism of the BBC spoils watching his performance. They spoil everything they touch with their coverage.
How is it spoiling the thread complaining about OTT jingoism?
No. He was just about to say that if both agree then they had a gold each.
FFS, you must have a heart of flint.
Been a great summer for Italy, apart from the Wimbledon final loss.Nearly as good as the other week..
When they won Eurovision Song Contest..
There should be a jingo commentary button and a rational commentary button. The joy of the mute button
How long have you posted on this forum and known me mate? lolI assure you that every nation will focus on their own athletes, it is just the way. The sooner you realise this then the less you will feel like complaining about it.
Also, I would say that all 3 commentators in the Gymnastics are or were heavily involved in the sport so will know Max Whitlock personally, more than likely. It was about the person themselves more than the country.
Matt Baker is an excitable fellow and you could hear him upset about the Irish gymnast as well. The commentary team for the gymnastics have been superb throughout and completely unbiased when taking about individuals but it is natural to focus more on the athletes you are more personally invested in. It happens in all sports.
Jingoism is a strong complaint and I think it is utterly unwarranted, nothing but full respect for all athletes across all sports while cheering on the British.
For @arminisgod the Olympic motto is Citius Altius Fortius OnlyforoneofusAgreed 100%
For me that optimised the Olympic spirit, as well. Absolutely brilliant scenes in that last 30 minutes across the high jump along with the triple jump and 100m.
They both have half a gold each. It is shared not doubled. They will both have to square that with themselves being 'joint' champions. End of the day they both have an Olympic gold and that is what counts. In the spirit of the games I say.
Reminds me of a dream I once hadThat was some performance by the Taiwanese fella on the pommel horse.
Joy to watch that
