NBA is kinda different. In FIBA You can park your big guys in the paint w/ no 3 sec. violation. I think there are different sub rules. Less timeouts (THANKFULLY!). More physical game.
I think the closer 3pt line screws up the USA shooters a bit.
However the US is quite weaker. The front line is a wasteland, Durant is more a small forward/shooting guard.
The rules wouldn't make a difference if the US had a fully healthy starting five of Harden, Curry, two of LeBron/Kawhi/Durant and Anthony Davis.
This particular team is screwed up because they don't have the overwhelming talent but also don't have pieces that fit together. I think the biggest thing going forward is they need guys to commit to cycles and not pull out unless actually properly injured. Try to build some understanding.
That said I want international basketball to be competitive and fun so I'm not too torn up that they are going to have to really work for a medal.
