First game was Burnley at home in 1963. We lost 4-3. Burnley were decent back then. Coincidentally Burnley were my first away game as well in 1970. We won that one 2-1. First of 8 straight wins (including Liverpool away) that ended with us winning the league at home to West Brom. Fantastic days.

Some time in the 60s for me ...but I can tell you about my Dad. Although born in Liverpool the first game he can recall was in London..

Arsenal 1 Everton 2
September 10th 1938

Tommy Lawton and Alex Stephenson (one of his favourites) scored (see Everton Results). He tells me he saw Dixie (perhaps at Highbury the season before?) but I guess at 84 it might be hard to get him to remember the game. I do know his Dad, and maybe his Mum were at the game Dixie got his 60th.

Also he tells me that he was "dragged" to Stamford Bridge by an uncle.. in 1937 to watch Chelsea play Liverpool. The home side won 6-1.
