The Gregsons well pub next door there mate,but am I wright in saying there was another Gregsons well pub facing it over the road?

My mum and a friend she knew all her life lived in a place just like that ( think it was Mount vernon view, it was by the Thors hammer by the old Royal hospital I think) remember her telling a story about the rats that where the size of small cats. The men of the road would kill them and put them all along the window sills of the road to show the landlord when he came calling for rent. The mother of my mums friend whose leg was in plaster woke up to find a rat chewing on the plaster cast. The toilet at the end of the road that was for the whole street didn’t help.

I’ve tried looking for the exact location of the street with no success my elder sister believes it was around where the service road is that gives you access to the old royal laundry. Was wondering eggs with you coming from that neck of the woods if you had any idea of its location.

….my grandparents were probably close neighbours. Seems like Mount Vernon View was off Mt Vernon Street. Apparently a bit of it still exists;
