The story of the Second World War internment camp at Huyton is one that shows the Wartime Government of Britain in a very bad light, but which reflects very well on the people of Huyton ~ true Scousers who understand and object to injustice and who will always fight it.

Huyton’s population increased from 1930s when land owned by Lord Derby was sold to Liverpool Corporation, bringing in a large number of new residents.

I can remember large areas of Huyton when I started on the council - where the tenants paid their rent to the Liverpool corporation & there then rates to Huyton UDC -

plus grass verges on the boundaries Huyton UDC cut one side of the road verges & the Liverpool Corperation cut the verges over the otherside of the road - Cambell Drive springs to mind ....
