I wonder if Frank Pimblett is related to the UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett?….year before me, Joey. I knew a few of these lads, they won the English Schools trophy. Frank Pimblett went to Villa but it never worked out, he sadly passed away a few years ago.
I played against them the following season, I’d be sure it was at Plesseys in the Lancashire Cup and I remember scoring in that one. If you went, you’ll have seen me. I probably have the programme.
Huyton played Blackpool that season in English Trophy, it was famous because it went to 4 replays (no shoot-outs in those days). Blackpool eventually won, we knocked them out in the quarter final at Penny Lane, yours truly scoring a hat-trick in a 3-2 win![]()
The spiv in the Peter Reid hat with the pram has been on the rob from the bombed out buildings... doesn't look happy at being in a photo and there's no baby in that pram!!
Notice a few kids from my school Huyton Hey in that team ...I wonder if Frank Pimblett is related to the UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett?

Ronnie Moore was a great CF for Huyton Hey school one year ahead of me ...a great lad back then…Saunders, the LB, went there & he was very good. I think he ended up working as a Fireman.
Some achievement winning that Trophy, you have to have some very good young players ia great lad back then f that happens. The team I played in looked destined but we weirdly came unstuck losing 1-0 in the semi-final to Chelmsford. I checked the programme some years later and their CB went on to play for Arsenal. I’m sure had we played at home we’d have won no problem, Chelmsford easily won the final.
A couple of familiar names on the electoral roll?
