She did - she was at Lorraine Street School, and I can't remember her name. Pretty girl too. The chippy opposite, Yee's - the daughter from there went to Lorraine too.

The Hippodrome was once called ‘Henglers Circus’ & Charlie Caplin was a child star who performed there. During that season Chaplin attended SFX School in Salisbury St and said it was one of the happiest times of his life;

That landing stage was a death trap in bad weather. I can remember waiting for the ferry to go kver with my Mum and Dad when it was really windy and the river was choppy. The far end of it to the left was moving up and down well above my head height and it created an oscillating movement down the length of it like a wavy line on a graph. There were ferry workers on the ferry ramp dragging people on to make sure they didn't fall between the wall and the ferry...
