….poignant pics of Victorian Liverpool. The first is outside the home for destitute children, the building is still there near the junction of Islington and Shaw St;

As you say, a poignant reminder of how life used to be for many people. I wonder how many of the younger people today truly realise what life was like for many, not so long ago.

….it is amazing, I look and wonder whatever happened to those poor kids, maybe some took part in WW1. There are some pics of them looking happy, hopefully they still had some joy in their lives.

I always look at that lovely building at the top of Islington when I’m coming out of town and think of its links to child poverty.

….must say, I had my doubts when originally posting. I think I read it connected a couple of main streets in the city centre, so there might have been two or the caption was incorrect.

…1909, children in Queens Place court housing, Saltney St next to Tobacco Warehouse. Irony is apartments in that warehouse now fetch £600k;
