Back in those days England games kicked off at the same time as a league game & Everton would miss selected international players - also our away kit was a white top - only if their was a colour clash - so that could well have been an Enhland international game -Dixie got paid the same a league game plus travel & food expenses showing receipts- one international game he was hauled into the England committee over one penny unaccounted for - an annoyed Dean explained he used the unaccounted penny to use the toilet on the train on his travel to the game in whi h he scored 2 goals for England- Dean warned the selection committee that if this happened again he would not play for his country ever again !
Westy despised Alan Ball from getting the captaincy of the blues as it was he who injured Labby in the run in coming out for a ball putting Labby his mate and captain out injured in the run in - Westy always stated he would never buy bally a drink and likewise Bally would never buy him a drink - but Westy did say Bally was a cracking player, but a mistake as a Captain of the blues.....
