When I attended Keith Newton’s funeral in Blackburn years ago Brian Labone and Gordon West represented the Everton club. Ronnie Clayton was greeting everyone at the church gates. Gordon was a bit unsteady on his legs and had a stick.

Ronnie greeted him with - I see you’re walking well today Gordon “. He chatted quite a while with Brian Labone, they obviously had a great camaraderie inspite of being opponents many times.
