You're forgetting that when he'd placed the ball down and positioned the wall, he'd then run backwards making sure the wall didn't move. The Street End chanting "Poser, Poser"

His pitch inspection at Spurs (at the third attempt following postponement through a blizzard and abandonment through floodlight failure) was brilliant as he "played a match" with his linesmen on a rain soaked pitch before allowing the game to continue.
