I’m remember going to Wooleys as a kid, seeing the plastic football figures in the boxes that had like one arm or leg movement,
and asking my dad if I could get one.
He said yeah sure, but I didn’t really know the Everton players because I was like 6 and there was no internet, so I asked him who I should pick.
He said “Pat Nevin, he’s the only one who’s been decent for us recently..”, and Pat was purchased. I did get Neville Southall as well in the end. Loved those figures, even took one the match with me once.
I’d say “good times” but I think Bill-end has ruined that phrase and song forever for many of us.
What a day that was, it was my first season going to the match and what a season. Sadly the family members I went to the match with in those days have all passed, my elder brother went last year, so it is just me having to watch us slide into the abyss. I will always be thankful that Lampard kept us up last year and our kid didn't have to see us relegated.
