Kay was naive not a greedy thief/ He was man of the match in the game he allegedly threw. Oh for a player a quarter as good in todays team.
Do you honestly believe a journalist can rightly choose a man of the match, Christ knows he was probably
on the end of a phone for such a middle of the table match. Tony Kay was no shrinking violet, when he lost
his football job and started his new life as a 'Bookie' and selling tickets outside Wembley over the top.
I loved the bones of him when he played for us, but like a lot of people over the years, they take the wrong
turning.

He was ill-advised to do what he did - plus in those days the law was so harsh - other top players in Wednesdays team Peter Swan etc got the same treatment compared to what goes on nowadays in reflection the law back then was far too hard banned from any football prison sentence etc ....

What upset me, my late father & older brother came home from each game Tony Kay played in telling me what a gem of a signing he was - i was just about to go to the game as they promised me & bingo he got banned - evidently Labby stated he was great - but he was too overconfident in his attitude - plus Bally would have loved to play in a team with Kay in it - plus we may never have seen The Holy trinity - who knows -

I did get to see them, what a pleasure it was too... ;)
