15th February 1964. Everton goalkeeper Gordon West comes out of his goal but fails to catch the ball allowing Sunderland centre half Charlie Hurley to score in a 3-1 win in the FA Cup 5th Round, at Roker Park.

….I remember being at that game at Main Road, I think it finished 0-0. Ex-Everton George Heslop with Alex Young and Harry Dowd I think.

….I remember being at that game at Main Road, I think it finished 0-0. Ex-Everton George Heslop with Alex Young and Harry Dowd I think.

My older brother & my late father went to the three games v city evidently we were lucky to get 0-0 in the replay - however at Molyneux in the 3rd game goals from Temple & Pickering seen them off they were at the top regions of the old Division 2 - we all thought it was going to be an easy route to the semi final .....
