His haircuts were ahead of the time. His missus was a hairdresser.
I struggle to think of a more underrated player than him in my time watching us.

He did the lot, kept us ticking over, superb range of passing,knew when and what ball to play short or long, not the quickest perhaps but his brain was razor sharp, he had so much guile and polish in the middle of the park,absolute tragedy what that total carthorse Whitehurst did to him up at Newcastle that fateful day, he returned eventually and went on for many more years but he was never again that bright star that shone for us from 1984-1986.
