Albert Dunlop, seen here pelting teammates, would have been 89, today. He made 231 appearances for Everton, including 4 in the 1963 title run-in. He later made some (ill-founded) allegations re. EFC players and 'Purple Heart' pills. Ended his career at Wrexham & Rhyl. Died 1990 -

Royston Vernon - Roy Vernon. He would have been 84 today; one of Everton and Blackburn Rovers’ greatest post-war players (Stoke City saw little of the best of him). Also, a proud Welshman who went to the 1958 World Cup finals in Sweden

1906 Everton won The FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Newcastle. Alex ‘Sandy’ Young got the goal at Crystal Palace stadium built by then near the Albert & Victoria Royal exhibition centre sadly burnt down by a cigarette dropping between the floorboards -

1940 Everton left-winger Johnny Morrissey was born. “Moggsy” crossed the park in 1962 apparently without Shankley’s knowledge & won the title in 19 63 & 1970. A hard as nails character who scored 50 goals in 314 games for The Toffees -
