I think they played a game at S. Lpool...reputedly...'according to the internet', one of the first under lights in the area.
I only remember going to the one in 1954, again Vs a 'Nigerian Select Team on a 'brisk' (cold) November night...and them in bare feet.
13,000 in that little ground by the station.
 
Saw this on Twitter, I’d never seen this angle of the penalty v Wimbledon before.
You can feel the emotion from the stands.

A year or so before my time that one, though I do seem to recall Everton playing another team in the early 60s who played in bare feet. Bangu?
