Top work by the schedulers and signalmen, no computers in those days.. I'm imagining a big room like the battle of Britain, young ladies with big sticks shoving little engines about on a big white table with stirring music in the background, probably by Elgar, Britten or Walton.

and Sam Kydd will be in there somewhere, he was always in that sort of thing.
You are probably right about Sam kydd but I am pretty sure Casey Jones was up top driving the engine.
