Think of a ridiculously high figure, and you still wouldn't be close. An absolute gem in every position, with an equally good gem waiting to seize the opportunity to play should the occasion occur
.The most striking thing of that era was the fact all players were from the Home Countries. 46 league games, numerous cup games, internationals without a six week break, payed on atrocious pitches in any weather and no feigning injury/ shirt pulling/ body checks/ cryassin to the ref/ diving etc etc,and all done with a raging hangover. Exciting non-robotic football.
Exciting days were the Manager was not in possession of a coaching certificate for being taught what every other coach in the league had been taught. Times of self expression.
Football is moving towards, at breakneck speed, exactly what Kevan Kegan predicted in circa 2007 when then manager of Man City (after replacing yourgoodself @Joey66 if memory serves) when he said removing contact and goal celebrations would kill enjoyment.
However, I digress. That was a magnificent team and nigh on priceless in today's market.

It was indeed. I remember quite visibly the victory celebrations on Georgies plateau where two held the cup aloft, and one of them was always Harry.

A real shame Whiteside had such a torrid time with injuries . I remember him play against Forest . He was great in that match .
