Harry Bennett read his interview in @alan ball Ball book 2 of interviewing players only played 3 games for us as a defender a great insight to the dressing rooms at Bellefield a great interview , and enlightenment of the 3 dressing rooms on the training ground in the 1960's -

I think he only played at Villa in a 4-0 defeat. It was a worrying sign when he came out on the pitch at HT and someone was throwing balls in the air for him to practise headers. He had played in Italy at centre half but hadn’t needed to head the ball apparantly

The prolific Royston Vernon he used to state - There's jimmy greaves , Dennis Law then me - If he had not been fetched up on woodbines to become a chain smoker, he may have been top dog over as over 12 yards it was stated there was no one faster , and more skillful - he had a thunderous shot with no backlift - I only seen him once or twice nothing of him , but he was the snide in our team who supplied the GV with some goals yet he was leading scorer for three seasons....

A great striker of the ball and lightening quick over those all important first 5 yards.
