....Sandy Brown (I think). It is amazing, though, as you point out, that teams those days were predominantly British/Irish. It’s not that long ago, but the game now is so cosmopolitan.

Just thinking about how many Academy players might have been in that 1970 side. John Hurst and Jimmy Husband weren’t local but came through our ranks. Roger Kenton is from Blackpool and was around the fringes, I presume he came through the Academy route. Whittle, Royle, Labone, Tommy Wright, Harvey and Johnny Morrissey were certainly local lads. That is quite a %.
Kenyon -not as bad as me saying we clinched the title v Sheffield Wednesday -and I was there with all my family many deceased now so sad the latest being my cousin aged 62 with and aggressive brain tumour last week - he and his Dad were big Evertonians in their day ......purring with delight as Colin Harveys rocket of a shot burst the net we were right behind that goal what a memorable night......

I was in the Bullens rd paddock and was right behind Harvey’s shot after he cut back in again from the left. It was a goal worthy to seal the title.
Thank goodness we can still remember(at the moment!) those days

It was Roger Kenyon who was the sub that day.
Hell also he had been sub every round up to the Semi final when Wilf Dixon swapped him for Sandy Brown when the other lot beat us at old Trafford 2-1 - in another year - poor Sandy never got to grips with Toshack in the 2nd half they grabbed 2 that half ...... we had lost that week a european quarter final in Greece... we sure went down hill after that....
