That picture brings back memories. That 'trench', the ball is in, is the half-way line. No thought about postponing games in those days. I remember playing a Yorkshire League game on a pitch like that. There was a strong wind blowing and the wind-chill must have been several degrees below freezing. One of the linesmen collapsed with hypothermia and had to be carried off. We heard later that they dumped him, in full kit, into the hot bath!
 
I would love to get an original of the above.

I have the 1966 FA Cup souvenir - which is great - and I realize I need the 1963 League one too.
I have looked for you can't find it , but keep looking it will pop up here and there, If I see one at a car boot I will pm you,
if the price Is right, there used to be this guy full of blues stuff from cheshire on a stall , but his stock has dwindled.....
