Remember that game vividly. They had a lad called Thompson who said he was going to rough us up. Not sure he got a kick. Didn't have time to get a bet on West Tip, and at that point had never backed a National Winner (I was only 15). Half time comes, scoreboard shows West Tip has won the National, bloke next to me jumps up and down because he'd won £100!! Happy, happy days. I remember going to a church hall somewhere for a cup of tea with my dad and sister after the game while the traffic died down. Really loved following us back then, shame my son doesn't have such memories.
