Okay that's the breaking point

I'm baffled.
Is this genuinely a wind up. Whether the OP was taking the mick or not, i'm not even sure, but everyone else who's in agreement, how can you be?

I've never wanted Allardyce, I made that clear from the start. I felt we'd get out of the mess, as there really are three worse (if not a lot more) teams than us in this league. However, Football isn't just a game now, it's a business, and Moshiri has used his business mind and seen Allardyce's record when making this appointment.

Not for one second do I think Moshiri's wanted to make this appointment, as shown by trying to get him in, on a deal til the end of the year, and then eventually JUST 18 months.

But lets stop a second, and lets look back at some of our performances this season prior to Big Sam. Now, did anyone think in 4 weeks, he'd have sewn up the leaky defence to make it rock solid, making players like Keane and Williams look actually half decent.

We're unbeaten, looking like we could maintain a push for Europe (again!) and the panic is over.

We're playing dour football, and that's not what we want to see. But, there is a vast improvement and things take time. Lets just appreciate the fine defensive job he's done so far, and hopefully be excited for a fresh, exciting manager in the future.

I thoroughly don't expect Big Sam to be here next season, I also don't think he wants to be either. A "Mutual Agreement", will probably come in and he will depart, but Sam, known for his love of money, now has the security of sealing a payoff, which i'm perfectly happy with.

Another bore draw from Sam.

Get rid.

This isn't acceptable.
Seriously?

Continuing an unbeaten run is breaking point? Did you see the way we played under Koeman and Martinez (latterly)?

Getting an away point while playing badly, against a team starting to fight for their lives is breaking point?

Getting another clean sheet is breaking point?

All of that is not acceptable for you? I'm afraid I disagree. It's a massive improvement from being tonked by a truly awful Southampton side.

.....Now, did anyone think in 4 weeks, he'd have sewn up the leaky defence to make it rock solid, making players like Keane and Williams look actually half decent........

At the risk of sounding a smart Alec, Barney, yes I did. See my previous on Williams when he was getting a lot of stick prior to sam’s appointment. I predicted then that he would be fine when we resorted to four at the back (or five even as sam has demonstrated in recent weeks) with a little protection in front.

See also my previous on how sam would deploy our defence once he came.

No. None of this is surprising to me. What I do find surprising, however, are people’s expectations that he was likely to have us play some attractive football or even take the play to the opposition, despite having Lee and Shakespeare on his coaching staff.

I sincerely hope the powers-that-be don’t give him an over-generous budget to spend in January: IMHO he’ll only go and blow it on crocks like Carroll or Benteke that when not injured, can’t hit a barn door at three feet.

May be you don’t know many Evertonians then what I experienced walking away from there were a mass of happy Evertonians. Happy not sticking it to Klopp but getting the point. May be I got it wrong?
Happy, yeah, after a couple of tonkings the last few years by some of the most bang average sides they've had in beards.
They scored 12 their previous 2 games but our injury and confidence ravaged side worked hard for a good point, not expected a few weeks earlier, so yeah happy but celebrating, nah. Growing up in Liverpool and still living in the area, I do know a lot of Evertonian's.

If you only look at the premier league only then Other than Southampton, all the other prem games we lost were against the 6 that beat us position wise last season. And then Burnley who are the masters of clean sheets and 1 nils. And then Leicester who counted attacked the **** out of us.

Nice to get results but put it into perspective. Since sam has come in, we have played 3 of the teams that havnt won (Newcastle have since) in very long times and are huge relegation candidates and then a newly promoted team. Credit for the liverpool and Chelsea results, but we got a draw against city under Koeman so let’s just hold off praising him as our saviour just yet.

Can't argue with that logic. It's largely 'meh' but with no sexy football.

Maybe if we had a big man up front and played more direct...

This thread is clickbait at it's best, well done Charlie 19 pages going over the same thing we've been discussing on umpteen other threads, Big Sam plays defensive mundane football hoping to catch out the opposition on the break, shock, horror, never realised that at all, always wondered why he was never on Barcelona's wanted list.

Not quite Lar. Packing a defensive line and, when you get the ball, punting it away asap is okay and understandable when we're down on our uppers and having to play the RS or Chelsea.

Playing against West Brom we basically said they were the more talented team and were the only ones trying to win the game. That's poor and no mistake.

We've won one game away from home in over a year, we are still slowly recovering from recently getting battered by everyone we met including the woeful Southampton whom we made look like Barcelona, we are playing at the Hawthorns who are straining their scrotoms trying to impress their new manager and we still get cryarses moaning about picking up a precious away point in the Premiership.
Sam has been hired for 18 months to do a specific job, he's doing it and he's doing it well, we knew it wasn't going to be pretty if you didn't then you must have your head in the sand, get over it and move on or would you rather us tippy tappy our way into the Championship.

I agree with just about everything there fella.

I can tolerate our dire performances now if there is a guarantee of survival ( pretty much done now ) and no BS next season.

Let's just start again next season with a decent manager who will play progressive but pragmatic football.

Not too much to ask is it?

If BS remains in charge next season attendances and interest will drop like a stone.
