Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian
The Unobstructed View
is takin' the knock the latest "must do thing"
"you cant say that 'cos i find it offensive" seems to be the latest way to stop something dead in it's tracks, is this the latest "ultra-pc" thing to filter down to street level.
the pc police have just about made it where even the title of the thread could be twisted to be made out to have racist undertones. what falls under the bracket of racism has taken away a lot of banter that goes on between people from different countries/counties/towns etc, now out and out racism is wrong but you read of things reported as racist and sometimes think "exactly who is taking offence here"?
we take the slash out each other in this country and where we are from is a big part of it but the pc police have made it where we cant even call some a [Poor language removed] preceeded by where they come from as the location part of it makes it "offensive".
now the football chanting is getting a rinse in the pc washing machine, before we know it we'll have had a hot wash and a good scrubdown before having our mouths washed out. i take my kids to matches and accept that they will hear bad language and other unsavoury things but i dont want it to be so sterile that they wont experience the atmosphere of football. fans have always sang things about players to unsettle them, and there have been worse things sang in the past as well. the authorities were terrified when football came on the scene as they viewed it as something where masses of the lower classes would exhibit unruleness, the police fought with crowds at the beginning of the last century and it has continued ever since, they tried to quell the masses as football became the working class barometer of what was going to happen in society.
i think there a few too many people who have jumped on "the abuse" bandwaggon and done much finger pointing, and now we have arrived at this point, it isnt helped when it's wagged in one direction either, wagging the finger then refusing to comment on what was happening in the other 38/40th's of the ground at exactly the same time. i would happily take the lowest premier league players wages and just laugh off the abuse, what happened to witty replies and devestating repartee.
BRING BACK THE BANTER
AND TELL THE PC POLICE TO FECK OFF !!
btw if our derbies are offensive then i think you will find many that have always been worse and always will be.
