the 'false number nine' does exist in the Martinez tactics bible. It was used on the 3-0 Arsenal match. It was Naismith's role to confuse and draw out the center backs by deliberately not being in the box while Mirillas and Lukaku played as false wingers/wide strikers. on paper the formation was 433 but it is more like 42112
 
I'm with Khalekan, I hate how positions are now referred to by a number. Your number used to mean something 40 years ago, nowadays it doesn't. We don't refer to the left back as a number 3, so why call a second striker number 10? It's pretentious and it has to stop.

Why do you even care? Serious, I mean I couldn't care less if we call a player by his position or by his number.

I care because it annoys me. Lots of people get annoyed by trivial matters all the time - we even have a thread about it. So if i want to fume, then goddam it, I will fume.
 
Left half,right half,inside forward,schemer(my favourite as a kid!)Pivot(Centre back),custodian(keeper)!!what happened to all these?!!
