A lot of moaning here, usual for Evertonians. Moaning about how bad Kenwright is running the club, moaning about moving to another stadium, moaning about lack of transfers, moaning about injuries.....

Lets take a look at our squad, if we can cool down a bit, and not getting to hot headed ;

We've lost Carsley and AJ from our starting XI. Fernandes was just in our lineup at the end of last season.

We've got Rodwell, Luke J, Gosling and Baxter who have opportunities to replace these two. They can make it, as Man U did with Scholes, Beck, Neville brothers, Giggs, Sharp ....

At the same time we have been unlucky with injuries on Pienaar and VDM , but on the other hand - Cahill and Vaghnue are soon back from injuries. And Baines are back, after spending most of last season on the injurie list.

I'm sure we are getting some signings , but we'll beat Blackburn without new faces.

Yeah, [Poor language removed] new signings and [Poor language removed] Alan Hansen too!!

If it comes down to it we'll stick Lescott upfront his goal to shot ratio speaks for itself.

We're fine, panic over.

...you had me up 'till that point.

Blackburn are a good side, alot of people are under-estimating them.

We won't beat them with the side we can put out.

I'd have preferreed to open with United at home and Chelsea away. We get nothing from those two fixtures anyway, and it would have allowed the two bodies we'll no doubt get to come in for less difficult games...if you see what I mean?

i'm hoping we can salvage a draw, and if the youngsters step up to it, maybe steal a win

i'm not sure how this will work though, do we have enough players to fill a 7 man bench? can we possibly do it without sticking two keepers, both ruddy and turner on the bench?

if any players get injured, even one more, i'm afraid there's really know way we can claw our way back into it

btw does anyone else think this whole 7 subs thing is just another way to cater to the sky 4, by rewarding the fact that they have more money to spend since they can now use more tactical options, whereas average teams who don't have too much competition for bench spots won't be given much of an advantage by the extra people?

and someone please edit this thread to read "not too bad" its pissing me off so much

The whole point of seven subs is for the top teams its going to put pressure on the teams with less money to compete, you only have to look at the subs benches when we play United or Chelsea most of their subs would be on the pitch for us and now its going to be seven.so if we struggle to match the top clubs what chance have the small clubs got.

Spot on.

Last season they got the better of us at Goodison and we had a decent team out. We where lucky to get a draw.

Assuming that we get 1 of Vaughan or Cahill back before Saturday and they can play some part we can put together a 7 man bench with only 1 of Turner & Ruddy as the back up keeper.

Here it is: Turner/Ruddy, Molyneux, Irving, Kissock, Rodwell, Gosling, Baxter

and we still have Jutkiewicz in the wings, w/o Vaughan and Cahill 1 of Rodwell, Gosling or Baxter would start and Jutkiewicz comes onto the bench.

I just wish I had your faith/confidence in the kids we may have to put out on Saturday. Only one of them, Rodwell, and possibly Baxter, looks good enough for the the first XI.
At the risk of being named as one of the doom and gloom brigade I believe that we must get some new players in or we will be in for a long old season.

So once we get Hibbert, VDM, Pienaar, Cahill, Vaughan, Anichebe back that will leave us with a bench consisting of:

Turner/Ruddy, Hibbert, Baines, VdM, Vaughan, Anichebe, Baxter/Rodwell/Gosling so deepending on injuries we will have anywhere between 2-3 of the kids on the bench picking up experience not ideal but not the unmittgated disaster it first appears to be.

I'll be doing something foreign to me and barracking for the US to knock Nigeria out of the Olympics today (I think) and that'll be Vic back for next week...

Assuming that everyone is fit is very optimistic. And thinking VDM will be fit to play this season is... well, I've got a couple of towers for sale in New York. A real bargain.

put together a team without using Vaughan or Cahill. we have 18 fit players, 8 of which are youngsters. this means 1 of them will have to start. imo Rodwell has been the most consistant so i put him in.

Howard

Jagielka Yobo Lescott Valente

Arteta Rodwell Osman Neville Baines

Yakubu

Bench: Ruddy, Irving, Molyneux, Gosling, Kissock, Baxter, Jutkiewicz

defense looks solid, only concern would be Jags at RB but he played there for sheff utd so should be fine. Arteta and Osman will have to be on top form. midfield looks scarily lightweight esp. since Blackburn are a physical side. hopefully Vaughan can play but i dont want Cahill being rushed back.
