Not A Transfer Rumour..... Wayne Rooney

first i would love to have him back BUT if some one told you they could get your old job back, one that you liked but you would half to take a 60% pay cut, would you? the figures are quite irrelevant really. hes become accustomed to the wages he gets now. sadly have to face the stark truth we just cant afford him full stop

You're right he wouldn't starve but there is zero chance of anyone accepting £80-£100k when they coukd earn £200k and challenge for trophies

I also think you underestimate your own team mate. We're a very good side, add Rooney to that and why wouldn't we be potentially challanging for trophies and CL?? Ok not the league title but cups and 4th....

I appreciate that people like to dream but we've got to be realistic! In a few years - possibly. This summer - not a chance

Would you come here if you were Rooney? Hero to his boyhood club.

Or

Would you go somewhere challenging for honours, playing against the best players in the World in the Elite competition (Champions League), for twice as much money.

I think as a fan you think of your own club, but it's a job to these players. He's already scored important goals at Goodison and likely fulfulled his schoolboy dreams. If Kenwright and Martinez could sit down with him and motivate him then maybe, but I think he's either off to Chelsea, or Moyes forces him to stay at Utd as a show of strength.

It's different tho mate, a 60% wage cut for you and me would mean not being able to live, not being able to pay bills etc.... Rooney dropping from 200K to 100k won't make any difference to his life other than his bank balance statement figure. There's also several other ways to up his money threw advertising deals ect.

Chris mate i love your positivity, i would love him back. but i'm just being realistic, no one is going to drop that amount of money for anything

Yea, you're right mate, everything's rightly quantifiable. That's why I check out ticket prices first every season to see who i'm going to support.
Sorry for the sarcasm mate, but we don't all think like that :)

Probably because maybe JUST maybe people like to believe that in football somewhere there's still a few players that might put money second to the chance to be a hero at there boyhood club.
Well I think we have already had the answer to that where Rooney is concerned.

I'm not underestimating our team in the slightest. We have a very good side. One which is capable of winning a cup and an outside chance of challenging for top 4. Even with Rooney we wouldn't be challenging for the title though and likelihood is we'd have to lose players to fund him coming in.

I honestly think if Liverpool fans were talking about one of their ex players in this way under similar circumstances we'd be laughing at them for being delluded

Tbf I'm arguing reasons why he would return, certainly NOT why he will !!

It's very unlikely, however Gerrard could of left Liverpool a few yrs back for more money and trophies. He decided to stay and finish his career with a team who ain't gonna be winning anything big in the immediate future!

What was moyes saying last week about Rooney
There's no problem with me and wayne, I've been to his house a few times and he has been to mine, he's happy at man u and people are telling me hes in great shape looking forward to the new season.
Davey the new king of spin.

If rumours are to be believed Gerrard was 'persuaded' to stay at Liverpool.

They also had a side playing regularly in the C/L and challenging for cups and he didn't lose out on salary (on much if at all)
