Not A Transfer Rumour..... Wayne Rooney

he makes roughly 11.5 million a year based on the widely reported 220k a week

our top earner is moyes on 4m a year

based on our current financial situation he would would have to take nearly a 8m a year pay cut to come back, I don't think it will happen

if i'm wrong, I'm wrong, just an opinion like

People who know what they're talking about have said many times he wants to play for us at some point, and unless Rooney is a total moron he'd realise we (and most clubs) couldn't afford to pay his £250k a week wage packet.

I'm not saying that he doesn't want to play for us, but I don't think he'd be willing to take a pay cut of 200k a week to do so

Talking about this today - fairly sure he'll be back when his contract expires.

Regarding money, he earns more than enough when you consider sponsorships etc. He's set for life. If anything, a loyal return to his boyhood club will make him even more marketable.

That said, if he decides to return when he's 30+ then I'll boycott Goodison until he's gone, as I'm not having anyone use our club as a footballing retirement home anymore. Don't care how good he is, the days of Ginola and Gascoigne are gone.

I don't think his contract renewal offer from Man Utd in 2015 will be anywhere near that amount tbh

'Adebayor wont go to Spurs'

'Pienaar will go to the highest bidder'

Okay mate. David Beckham went to Galaxy and was only on about $80k per week, could have gotten much more if he'd gone elsewhere. If Lampard goes to LA he also won't be on a wage close to what he gets playing for Chelsea, or what he could get elsewhere.

Older players often make moves for things other than money. If that wasn't true you'd see a lot more players going to Russia than you do.

Don't be silly.

This. If he's still good enough then I wouldn't mind but if he's turned to sh*t and it's a pure sentimental thing then I don't care how much he wants to play for us. If he's not good enough then no thank you.

never mind coming back to us - he will have earnt so much he could probably buy us

imagine him coming back and scoring a late winner at the kop guys. would have him back in a shot if he is still up to it, unfinished buisness.

Plenty would mate.

Plenty of my friends, season ticket holders are adamant that the season ticket goes back if Rooney returns in his 30's.

The likes of the below are ingrained into some.

His contract expires in June 2015. If he returns then, welcome. If he angles for a retirement home in his 30's, well, I just hope we've got enough about us then to tell him to jog on.

In the past.

I like to think of him leaving flowers and a card for Rhys Jones parents, and taking an ad in the Liverpool echo the other week for Coleen's sister.

I've thought about this and for a time I didn't want him back, but the lad is a professional, hes gone to United and if he comes back i'd welcome him

Fair point mate.

The specific age thing was more what i thought was silly though, seeing as his contract expires when he's 3 months short of 30 anyway. If for example he was 10 goals short of being United's all time top scorer and stayed on for a season or half a season to do that, then it wouldn't change anything for me.

I think he's a player of such talent that he'll be a good member of any team at the top level well into his 30s.

Is right, kids do stupid things. To those who say they'd boycott because of his actions i'd ask how they know they would react differently if thousands of supporters from your boyhood club were booing you and giving you stick. Heat of the moment.
