I was born 12 years after 85. What did he do?

He scored the winner in the 1985 FA cup final for Manchester United against Everton, denying us the treble.

We won the Cup Winners Cup final at 10pm in Rotterdam on May 15th then had to kick off at 3pm on the 18th for the FA cup final.

Imagine the fuss that would be made about that now.

As it was we still should have won as they had a player sent off (Kevin Moran) for stopping us going through to score in the second half. By extra time we were knackered and Whiteside scored a brilliant goal to beat us.

He then signed for us in 1989, was excellent for one season then got a career ending injury.

The guy was a great player he was unfortunate to have to retire through injury when still in his mid twenties. Im pretty sure that he remains the youngest ever player to play in the world cup finals, he was 17 in 1982 when he played for Northern Ireland.

He used to work for Northwich Victoria, I think that's what their called, it was a good few years ago so not sure what he's doing today like. He did some sort of Physio there.
