I can't work out which part of London the clubs are in. West Ham are barely south of Arsenal but they're not North London. Millwall are sarf of the river, not much further East than Spurs but East End and not South London? Palace are miles further south than Chelsea or Fulham but they're all South London? What are QPR and Brentford?

Even @chicoazul's wool map had better delineation. London's an absolute mess.
I forgot QPR. They're West London.

Arsenal are really a South London team that moved north. They're originally from Woolwich Arsenal, which is why they're known as the Gunners. My Spurs-supporting brother calls them Woolwich Wanderers.

My son was born in Bedford, lives in St Neots (on the Beds/Cambs border) and supports Spurs. His birthdate and initials, along with those of my brother and my nephew (who arranged it) are stamped into metal parts of the fabric of NWHL.

They were originally Dial Square (Isle of Dogs) then moved to Woolwich but couldn't get anyone to watch them so they tried to merge with Fulham. That fell through so they moved to Highbury and had the name of the Tube station changed from Gillespie Road (via back handers) to Arsenal to make it look like they belonged there. Since then they have moved again to Ashburton Grove.

Hence Woolwich Wanderers.

Research has shown that, without the background noise of modern London, Bow Bells could once be heard as far as Canning Town (six miles east), Haringey (five miles north), Lambeth (three miles south) and Westbourne Green (four miles west).

To be defined as a Cockney you had to be born within the sound of Bow Bells. To make it even more confusing Bow Bells are not in Bow in East London but in the City of London.
