American. For a while I just followed and rooted for Americans abroad. Then my brother became a Spurs supporter so I decided I needed to pick a team. Then Donovan first came on loan and I fell in love with a Afro'd Belgium and the rest of the squad. I came for Donovan and Howard and stayed because I was chosen and had no other choice.

I made my first trip to Goodison and sat in the Lower Gwladys (vs Stoke) and got to sit in the away supporters section at White Hart Lane (thanks to Alan Ball).

In the USA. For me it's been a strange journey. In the 80s when I was about 11 I went into what my Mom called the fanatical sports years. I wanted to be a sports broadcaster and I followed every sport you could think of, including listening to Basball games everyday on the radio. During this time I would catch peaks of EPL games, and guess who would get plenty of airtime in those days Everton. I still remember watching one game(can't remember specifically) and thinking holy crap those fans are passionate. So I followed from afar. In the 90s I became more interested in girls and sports broadcasting took a backseat. In the 2Ks my son started playing Soccer, and he has become a fan of Barca, where a good deal of my family have connections. I decided to rekindle my love for Everton, and now I am hooked for good or bad. I am happy to report that after my son got the opportunity to get a few autographs after the team's visit to Miami, his love for Everton is just about par with Barca.

Irish here, from a small town where the only football I saw on TV in the 80s was pretty much English league. Merseyside was the powerhouse back then and I think my young self picked Everton as they were blue. Not that I remember a great deal of that period...which is a pity as it was our best.

Live in Barcelona now and see pretty much every game online, and there is even an Everton bar out here and another bar I go to where the barman is a scouse blue. Didn't know many people when I got here and it was great dropping in for a beer and a chat with another toffee.

Have been to a few games, but not been to Goodison since we lost 1-0 to Spurs...not sure what year. Dunc was still playing. Thankfully my next game after that was an away win at Spurs with a deflected Pienaar winner. The away support is amazing. Last game I saw was the Wembley semi final win over United. Was actually sitting in the United end, as I got a freebie. Was told to keep the jersey covered up but that and my quietness only lasted until extra time. Was a great moment to be jumping up and down on my seat as all the manc fans streamed out after Jags peno. In fairness got no abuse, and it turned out two quiet lads in front of me were toffees too! Got the ticket through the head scout for United at the time...not sure if he still is now....but dont know if anybody realised he is a die hard toffee and also best mates with our ex boss.

Anyway...love this club. I'm also a Barca supporter for the guts of 20 years and now have a season ticket for the first time, but doesn't come close to my passion for Everton. Will be at the Chelsea game in the back of the Lower Gladys for my first game in years, and coming with my two younger brothers who have never been before. Can't bloody wait.

COYB!

Ah nice mate :) Yeah loads of blues over here with a strong supporters club. Direct flights to Liverpool now from here also so no excuses.

My wife's sister lives in Jersey, she married a local lad who is a koppite. The bloke who owns the hotel in St Aubin where we've stayed is a blue and has a season tickets and gets over for most of the games

Displaced Brit living here in Texas.
Born and raised on the Wirral, season ticket holder throughout our glory days.
Moved darn sarf - Salisbury - when I was 13/14 - 1988 ish - just as Harvey took over.
Been living in the US since 2009 bar a brief stint back in the UK in 2010 when Mrs M bolted at the first sign of trouble - but I'm not bitter! ; ) She has since recognized the error of her ways!
No-one in my family supported the blues, mostly reds, don't know why Everton, just didn't like the colour red I guess.

Good lad. Enjoy

Aussie over here! Was never into football as I played and loved Aussie Rules. My best friend is a supporter of the ****e and slowly turned me into liking football, even stopped playing aussie rules to play football. Luckily I found out who is the best team in Merseyside and have been a passionate follow in Australia since the season after the 2002 world cup. Love the Toffees with all my heart and fortunately I got to see them play over here in Australia in a pre season tour a few years back! Planning to go to goodison next year for my birthday!

What led you to being a Toffee specifically?

Any Aussie football lover that I've met personally has unfortunately been a kopite. And I mean every single one!

That's sounds like a good reason to me Keep the faith.

I like this thread, you bunch of Gloryhunter......!

I joke, I joke......

I often got called a gloryhunter as I started "supporting" in the 80s but the truth is I don't think i really started paying attention to the team I'd picked until a little later. So my first football memories are Maradona in 86 and Ireland beating England in 88! I can just about remember the Cup final loss in the late 80s but really most of my early Everton memories start when we started to slide.

American here. My best friend's physical therapist was Australian and a big NT supporter. He really got my friend and I into watching Kewell, Viduka, and of course Cahill back in 02. I became a huge Cahill fan. Originally, I really only followed international play, as that was the most available as a 11 year old in the US at the time. When I started watching club ball, I followed Cahill. I quickly started to really like Everton. Lot of similarities to American teams I cheer for in sports. Finally got to see my first game in Miami this year and it was awesome to get to go to the training session too.

Danish Evertonian - Won an Everton scarf at a penalty shootout when i was 4 years old, now im 42 and still a die hard blue.
Been to Goodison around 20 times and i was at Nurnberg, Alkmaar and Liege.
My first game was at Old Trafford in 1985 or 86 i think. We came second that season but won it the next year ;)
My son is also an Evertonian and have been at Goodison 12-13 times. He love the Toffees besides all of hes friends are Chelsea, Man U or ****e fans, its a bit tough for him but hes holding strong and hardly ever miss a game.
