Non League Football

"In a quiet town chiefly notable for its railway and a minor skirmish in the Civil War, these are high times in its sporting life."

Brett Anderson from Suede is from there too.

Didn't realise HH were such a big club for that level
I live there but I'm not a huge fan of the town. I moved to be nearer to my kids.
They haven't really done much historically but there is a healthy non league scene in Sussex. Lots of support for the teams.
HH have plenty of financial backing I'm told.

Big one tonight at the MTA.

Marine Vs. Hereford.

Must admit, I have a strong dislike for Hereford, Edgar St is one run down hovel and the locals were less than welcoming last season.

Marine slight chances of playoffs after a cracking win vs Chorley on Monday; Hereford's win over Merthyr on Monday halted a run of 7 straight losses and they're in the mire.

7 points adrift of freefalling Curzon Ashton, with 3 games in hand on them. Uniquely, season finishes in 17 days and we are due to face Hereford twice.

Up the Mariners!

Unexpected, but not surprising?

Those players keep finding levels. Think by the end of the season we will have played 11 games in 28 days.

Playoffs still there, albeit a very slim chance. Merthyr at home on Tuesday.

Confirmed Morecambe, Brackley Town & Harborough Town into the league next season as Leamington, Peterborough Sports confirm their relegation.

Alfreton & Hereford edge closer to the drop.

Some pretty big clubs down there for that level

Theres lots of money in the pyramid now (not always good).

10 years ago, itd be an anomaly to have a full time team at Step 2 (6th tier), now over half in the North are Full Time, with £1m+ wage bills.
Theres about 6 part time teams left... even Peterborough Sports (who average 300 a game) are discussing Full Time and have Phil Brown as DOF (after a short stint as manager).

In the south, there's some big hitters Dagenham (now part owned by KSI), Torquay (managed by Neil Warnock), Dorking etc... York & Rochdale have bigger budgets than half the teams in League 2; but having 2 up, makes it very hard to get into FL.

Talking of York and Rochdale, there`s two games left and York two points ahead.

York play Yeovill at home next and Rochdale play Braintree away.

York win and they`re up regardless of what Rochdale do.

York draw and Rochdale win, puts them level on points.

Then they have to play each other on the last game of the season at Rochdale on 25th April !

Id cross check that.

Rochdale only 2pts behind, so if Rochdale win both games, theyll be promoted.

As theyll have beaten York.

Saw an interesting stat before, If York Get 2pts theyre guaranteed to go up due to GD, but theyre not guaranteed with 3pts 😂

Be a cracker that next week.

York have got the momentum, as I think at one point they were seven points behind Rochdale.

However they got to the play off finals last year and bottled it against Oldham, who finished 6th, to York’s 2nd and a shed load of points behind them too.

Both deserve to go up automatically tbh, as they’re so far ahead of the rest of the league.
