He was poor but when was his last start? If he had been managed properly and not shunted out when he was our only form player, this wouldn't be a problem.

He impressed a little but was never our form player imo.

Consistently makes mistakes leading to goals with his poor defending

Before Koeman was sacked he was our stand out player in 3/4 games. Unsworth came in and decided against it. When was his last start? He played crap but who didn't

And yet made mistakes that directly led to goals due to his poor defending, hence why he was dropped!

So why has that not been applied to other players then? Vlasic along with Pickford was one of the only positives during Koeman's awful spell this season and then Unsworth decided to drop him.

Not his best game today but that can happen when a player plays his first game after being out of the team for so long. Needs to be given a run of games now.

Didn't look good today at all.

Shaw, Pogba and Martial are by no means easy to deal with, but he looked completely lost a lot of the time.

Sam probably didn't do him a favour by giving him his first start in a while in a game like this, where Everton aren't likely to be on the front foot and have tons of possession. He couldn't really show off his strengths very much, but then it's not Sam's job to do him favours. If he wants to be a first team player he needs to be able to deliver anytime anyplace.

I think there's talent there, but if he doesn't improve on his defensive game he won't be a Premier League player.

I already answered it. Because he was making mistakes that directly resulted in goals for the opposition and it wasn't ceasing

He is not a defender. When shaw pushed on in the 2nd half Vlasic was forced back and couldn't do anything that was classed as a strength of his......attacking.

Vlasic was a positive and should be given a good run of games because he is far more intelligent and skilful than most. He became leggy in the 2nd half which is understandable considering he hasn't played a game in a long while.

Play him more central and have the defensive midfielders helping the full backs out as McCarthy and Barry did in Martinezs first season and not attacking players. Attacking players cannot hurt a team if they are on defensive duty.

Hope to see Vlasic for at least the next half dozen games

Worst player today IMO.

Might be an unpopular opinion.. but he left Holgate with 2 attacking players to deal with for most of the game offering no defensive support.. with the only cover being provided by the bottlejob that is Schneiderlin.

Time and time again they came down the left.. almost deliberately targeting the weakness.. both goals coming from too much space down the left.

And now one might forgive such lack of defending if said player was tearing it up on the attack.. but alas.. he was almost invisible on the attack too. Bar about 5-10 mins when he got involved a little when we had a bit of momentum.

Not good enough for Everton in my opinion and another bit of lazy recruiting done off the back of the lad having a couple good games in europa against us.

Still has time on his side.. id be glad to eat my words but I cant see it personally.

EDIT: Also think Sams subs today were attrocious.. i would have hauled Vlasic off alot earlier for Kenny or Lennon to add support defensively for Holgate

Every player needs to help out defensively imo. Not just allow players to leave them in the dirt.

He was out of sorts.

Thought he looked dangerous first half and showed there's a player in there. Did next to nothing second half and, for the full 90, showed a lack of discipline in defense which, under our present circumstances, makes him a bit of a luxury.

Having said that, he doesn't appear to be a natural wide player, and would likely be more suited to playing more centrally, so there's likely more to come from him if we can find the right role for him

Vlasic clearly offers too much attacking threat to even be considered for selection by Allardyce.

Now he's played him, can you see why he's not got much game time recently ?
