To explain: There once was a player called Alan Gordon who played for a Scottish team. Unusually for a footballer in the sixties, he was a university graduate and wasn't slow to speak his mind.

Excellent English which will help him hugely in settling in, and sounds atriculate and ambitious for a young man. Not that it's Oxford he's applied for, but I was impressed nonetheless with him. Obviously wants to do his talking on the pitch.

..it's a good point. His dad is an athletics coach and his sister world champion high jumper, so he's been raised with a dedication and application to sport.

...I dare not think what we'd already get for DCL with stories that Arsenal are interested. I think I can say with confidence he'll be a Premier League player. He's not that big a price to be in England's World Cup squad next summer.

He'd quite good. Whether he can translate his game to the PL remains to be seen, but we're right to be excited.
