Niko Kranjcar has confirmed he he turned down Everton to join Tottenham on a four-year deal on transfer deadline day.
The Croatia international ended his three-year association with Pompey on Tuesday to be reunited with former Fratton Park boss Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane.
The 25-year-old would have been out of contract on the south coast at the end of this season and revealed he had no desire to extend his stay with Paul Hart's men.
When asked whether Premier League rivals Everton had also made an offer for him, Kranjcar revealed to Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List: "This is true.
"Everton is also a big club but, in the end, the tradition and greatness of Tottenham made the difference.
"I also knew manager Harry Redknapp, and Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka told me great things about the c
????? We've won a lot more than them, tradition and greatness my arse. The extra 10k a week wages had nothing at all to do with it like
Exhibit A about trusting media sources and getting all furious.
We definitely didn't ask about his availability through unofficial channels or anything like that did we. I mean surely we wouldn't deny things that we know can't be proven anyway.
Once again, make believe.
Stop being paranoid man. Theres an anti club grassy knoll around every corner with you Browns.
I'm not even criticising the club. You just seem to think that everything in football is as honest as the day.
Not sure if you're joking here, you've done me.
Im all dead serious, look at my face and everything.
Do you think that the OS is lying over not bidding for Krancjar?
No, because we wouldn't bid if we knew he wanted to go to Spurs. We may well have not been interested at all and not contacted anyone about it. All I'm saying is coming out on the website and announcing that you were never interested in a player doesn't mean that you weren't. It just means that that's your official position. Terrible English there, disappointing.
