What people are really excited about is not a great spending window, but a window where it looks like 2 non-performers have been moved on in exchange for two potential deliverers.

True, but there's nothing wrong with that necessarily. At least it's a step up from selling players just to pay the bank. And any time you can swap two players who don't contribute for two who do, regardless of money or fees, that's got to be considered good business.

It's an improvement (unless someone leaves later tonight) on the degrading transfer windows of the last 3 seasons. I think that's a fair enough, non-OTT summary of January 2012.

Players can leave. They just cannot transfer their registrations to Italian clubs
