Agreed - and it's not June 2012 to November 2013 either; the period of time you're judging him on instead of the last month of football.

How can i judge his ability to play in the Premier League based on an FA Cup game against QPR ?

You've lost it Tubey, you really have. Eleven MONTHS without a goal in the Prem ! MONTHS !

What I am saying is he has had a chance and did not take it

Why would now be any different?

How many chances does the man need?

Right, so by that logic, Aston Villa should release Benteke on a free. After all, he hasn't done anything since August/September 2013 either.

He's just scored two goals and looked lively; that's what he deserves the chance for - the real issue here is that people have it in for him and he's not a "FIFA favourite" for some on here.

You can't; therefore, start him against Norwich and see, right?

You can keep shouting that stuff in caps all you like, but it doesn't eradicate the fact he's had two good cameo performances off the bench in the Premier League and took his chance at a start today by scoring two goals. All that matters is the here and now - you seem to not understand what the word "form" means.

I mean who could we get in?

It just impossible isn't it, Who on earth could we get that will score 0 league goals in 11 months

I say keep him until he's 70, He's bound to find his touch again some time
You're just being daft now.

Some of you need to get a grip - hating on one of our own players for the sake of it is highly disappointing to say the least.

We can't sell him for a pittance because if Lukaku gets injured we only have Mirallas who could go up top and play well, and having him there means Osman would probably steal a place in the XI, which severely weakens us.

If we already have some money (lol) and were able to get four or five million for him which could go towards a good striker of about 10 - 15m pounds then I'd happily wave goodbye, but if not it would be too dangerous to let him go.

Imo.

That's such an awful comparison.

Benteke has scored 4 goals in 13 games.

Jelavic has started 5 games, played in 4 more, and scored zero.

That's ignoring the fact that one is playing for a boss team and the other is playing for Villa.

Not at the expense of a player who actually knows how to score in the Premier League.

If you want to possibly sacrifice points in our chase for the top 4 so that a guy who hasn't scored in the top flight in nearly a calendar year doesn't get upset or something, then that's your prerogative.

Rom has hardly been banging them in recently though Brennan, I mean Seamus has been scoring more than him recently...

You honestly think Starting Jela instead of Lukaku will effectively be us throwing the points away at home vs Norwich mate...?

Lukaku hasn't looked like he could score at this level either for a month, barring half an hour in one game. Yet you disregard a player who scored a great strike today from outside the box and showed good movement for the second, and was instrumental for earning a penalty on the day too, as someone who can't possibly score in the Premier League against Norwich. It's ludicrous.

People are simply not being objective here. At least davek is honest when he says he's past the point of giving Jelavic a chance in the first team, so you can excuse his bias as he's making it clear that that's what it is, but others seem to be blinded by the fact Lukaku is boss on FIFA or something.

They're not hating on him for the sake of it, they're hating on him because he's been rubbish for basically a year.
... but today was an opportunity to praise his work and put him in the frame for the Norwich game, but some of you simply don't want to know.

Just so you know, if Rom had actually been in goalscoring form recently I wouldn't be advocating that Jela start ahead of him 100%, but I personally think he's earned a start based on today and on Rom's recent form.

Everyone is acting like Lukaku is in this amazing form at the moment.... 1 goal in the last 7 games isn't form worthy of walking into the side, so why not let Jelavic, who has just scored two, and looking confident?
