For my 2 cents he's been relying on an out of form Pienaar and Gashsmith for balls into the box which is where he thrives, it's certainly not helping his cause.

The Fellaini 'crowding ot Jela' theory amuses me. Even from that sequence of goals - and leaving aside Mofros direct assists - you can see how closely the two were working together last season.

This pointing the finger at Felli's more advanced role as explanation for Jelavic's downturn has to stop.

Defo mate, it's one of the better partnerships going before xmas. Jelavic actually helped Fellaini score some of those goals by drawing defenders and creating space for him, I think he's technically an average footballer but he does know decent lines to run and tries his hardest. I'd still prefer Fellaini back in centre mid, but he hasn't been the cause of anyone's demise.

the majority of those goals last season he never had a defender near him, this season defenders stuck closer to him and played the high line which is why he is offside so many times. its not rocket science

all of this stuff about still trying hard and confidence is bull****, its a simple case of teams have done their homework on him this season, moyes has tried playing him upfront and he goes missing in some games, try playing him down the flanks and people complain he isnt in the centre, i dont know what else you expect moyes to do.

Why did he not have a defender on him last season? Did they decide "oh, never heard of him, he might be a striker, but lets just not bother marking him". There's a reason you're kitted up lad.

again as I said they did their homework on him, same with other players who are left footed playing on the right you show them down the wing so they cant cross with their best foot,
first season he was given acres of space, this season they have gone tighter on him as they see him as a massive threat.

They didn't worry about studying how he played for Rangers? Really?

You could chuck Phil Neville up front and the centre back would try not to give him an inch.

Agree 100%, it's was always baseless & directly contradicted by the stats, but the armchair tactical geniuses amongst our number, decided it was a 'fact' & ran with it.

yep same way no one knew what impact that kai kamara would have for norwich, how many of us knew how good he was in the air before he came on

Its a case of he was unknown so they didn't know his quality. 2nd season comes about, and that same player who scored 10+ goals last season is sussed out and can't score.

There's countless examples of that. What separates the better players is how they adjust and cope with it and change their game. There's only a handful of players that consistently slot 10+ goals every season without fail. The rest end up being one season wonders or have purple patches. It's why when people bang on about how good Michu is this season... Just wait till next season when he's turd.

Sadly, Jelavic hasn't adjusted (or being coached different) to help him. Apart from work the channels.

I'm sure the coaching staff had some idea, we're just crap at defending set pieces. If they didn't then they're not doing their job, but I'd be confident they have an awareness of the opposition.

Van Nistlerooy, Raul, Rush etc, all the best poachers, never changed their game, they got better at the things they did well, but they all went through goalscoring slumps at times, but bounced back. Jelavic is way off that league of player, but he's in that mould, so to say he needs to adapt, well I don't think he's capable to start with as he's a limited footballer, but he needs confidence to get back to doing the few things he does do well.

I think fans shout sing jelavic song as much as possible in Reading game.
We should show our support to him
He IS BOSS SLOTTER and the goals will come soon enough

So NANANANANA NAAAA COMOON BOYS LET HIM HEAR IT

I honestly think its a matter of confidence, F all this Moyes has ruined him by making him run channels- when hes in positions hes not sticking them away and whether its 2nd season syndrome that the pressure is much more or whatever I dont know.

He had a chance against Norwich- took it lovely on his chest from a ball in the box and then failed to get any purchase on the ball to get it past the keeper. Last season he would have stuck it away make no mistake.

I honestly think we should stick with him against Reading, I know I said otherwise yesterday but Ive changed my mind. Let him get a goal- off his ass, off his neck from the penalty spot whatever... A confident Jelavic is a deadly Jelavic so lets give him an opportunity against a struggling side to get a goal!

Definitely this Finners. Whilst I don't mind us all critiquing players etc on forums, all of you who get to the game, get right behind him, it all helps, he's still doing us proud in our colours and everything helps.
