Niasse Ban for Diving - Consistency

Mad isn't it. So if a player cons a free kick which is then smashed into the top corner, is he punished afterwards for the dive? What if the free kick doesn't go in but hits the bar and is tapped in after a scramble in the box? Or if it's a penalty and is saved and pushed wide, only for the attacking team to drill it across the box and then into the goal? Such a BS rule that can be enforced at will to benefit whoever the FA deem fit.

Should be simple really
If you blatantly dive looking for a penalty and the ref sees it - Red card and 2 match ban
If you con the ref and you get a penalty - 2 match ban

Stops diving altogether then

It’s very stupid. I believe the official offence is “Successfully deceiving a match official”. So because the ref screwed up he gets a ban. Yet the player that doesn’t deceive the ref gets away with it. A total nonsense

If they really want to get rid of it then it all has to be judged retrospectively and punished accordingly. The ref may not be certain it is a dive so will be apprehensive of showing a red which I think is fair enough.

Regardless of the decision on the pitch though dives should be looked at afterwards and then punished.

VAR will hopefully help with this as refs will have instant assistance meaning they can take time over a potentially unclear situation.

If the player dives and or exaggerates to win a penalty or red card in their favour, they may investigate it and possibly ban.

It is that simple.

Nothing to do with free kicks or the ref not seeing it etc, it doesn't matter.

If you dive to win penalty or red card that is the only possible route to investigation.

It really is that simple.

However the online variables are much more complicated lol

Agree ... So long as they can review the red cards to see if there really was contact from the offending sky 6 defender.

Did the ref also get dropped from Niasse pen? He should of done

Chris Kamara strongly suggesting Wilfried Zaha just conned the referee for a penalty for Palace. They scored from it. Inquest via MOTD? Don't count on it, was only against Bournemouth.
