NFL 2024 Season

Maybe I'm blinded by the fact that I cannot stand the man. But I would be incredibly surprised if he ever coached a team to a Lombardi
This is part of what I’m saying. Everyone looks at football and goes “coach and QB” which the Eagles both have, imo, bottom half of the league guys. And yet they just win anyway against good teams too. They’re legitimately good. It’s crazy.

It helps to have the best O line and best D Line in the league.

Outside of QB, they have by far the best squad in the league - and probably by a distance.

Personal foul calls against Mahomes this season: 6

Allen: 10

Since both came into the league

Mahomes: 39

Allen: 62
So in my profession as a data analyst I’d be asking these questions:

What is this stat telling me?
Who asked for it and for what purpose is it needed?

Questions I’d ask to understand what drives these figures:

How good was each QBs O-line? Can that even be quantified?

How many pressures has each QB faced during the span of these stats?

What is the % of personal fouls to pressures faced?

What were these fouls; helmet to helmet, fouled out of bounds, horse collar etc?

Until I have that context, these figures are pointless. People will call numbers/figures “data” or “stats”. But until there is context around those numbers, it is just a bunch of useless information. It’s easy to be swayed by ‘high level’ figures and take it as gospel, I’m not and I don’t.

It’s being targeted at those who claim Mahomes gets over and above the normal number of calls that any other qb does.

Over a short sample size I agree the questions you ask might be relevant but over 8 years I would expect things to even out.

The point I will concede is that Allen runs more than Mahomes.

But Mahomes drops back more, so thats mitigates it.
