Let’s just wait and see which qb wins the super bowl

None of yesterdays fools will be
I don't even care who does it is already overrated. If you can get within touching distance with Garappolo twice, not to mention all the other examples, it becomes hard to keep doing the QB play is all that matters thing.

No team will ever have the balls to say screw it, we're not paying the guy crazy money and compromising the rest of the team. But I also think some of the teams with really well designed offenses like SF probably should. Pay the dominant lineman that are actually winning you games and let Shanahan figure it out with Jimmy or Kirk Cousins or Matt Ryan.

Out of the last 20 years there have been about 3 non hall of fame type super bowl winners

I’ll leave it at that, you carry on believing what you want to.

Brady skews that massively though. And Brady didn't play like a HOF in at least 3 of the 7 seasons they won. Plus you have 2015 Manning who was, and this isn't an exaggeration, the worst QB in the league.

Also Roethlisberger was crap in 2005. And this has to mean you're counting Eli which LOL.

I’m sure Chiefs and Bills fans will give relevant consideration to possibly paying an OL more money instead of watching Mahomes and Allen light it up tonight

We saw what happens to Mahomes when they can't block!

Seriously though, they're at a level where you have to pay them obviously, but less QBs are and everything else still matters. Allen and Mahomes aren't getting here without the good to great lines, excellent receiver play and passable defense. And this evening all anyone will talk about is Allen and Mahomes.

If you have a Rodgers, Mahomes, Brady, Herbert, Burrow or Allen just screw it and pay them, they are worth it. Just do it preferably for long contracts where the cap will keep going up. Mahomes contract is really cap friendly come 2-3 years from now.

What gets you in trouble is paying out the nose for the middle class. If you have the 15th best QB in the league given the choosing between paying him 35M/year or just grabbing someone on a rookie contract is the next big nerd analytic debate.

Yeah the issue is paying Cousins or Goff silly money

*whispers* 2022 Tom Brady shouldn't be on this list. His cap hit is very friendly but a less friendly one he couldn't deal with. See 2019 NE.

But yeah that's about right. I'd add Lamar and Watson because we've seen them turn water to wine so to speak and maybe Dak who I'm a fan of. I'd also say slow down with Burrow and especially Herbert who for all his talent has yet to actually put together more than a handful of games at an elite level.

For me the key is the coaching. There is no salary cap on coaching and some of these offenses that prop up average QBs are more valuable than actually having a good QB. Those teams should lean into it I think.

Brady can do that because he makes chump change compared to his wife. If he did want 2yr/90M he's worth it.

coaching helps. As long as you don't have a clown like Nagy you are usually fine. I don't think Zak Taylor is a genius or anything and they are in the AFC championship. Shanahan is the king of brain fartz and still might get to a 2nd SB. Vrabel is considered a top 5 coach and really botched it against said Zak Taylor (the guy who kept on not protecting Burrow). Having a series of bad to mediocre coaches is less damaging than terrible and/or meddling ownership which for the most part is the one constant of bad teams.

Lamar is interesting, he's gonna want slightly more than what Dak/Allen got. I think the Ravens would sign him for an extension for around 10% less than that today. If not they gonna play it out and franchise him if needed.

Great QBs don't get you SB, but they usually get you into the playoffs. You can goto/win a SB w/ an avg dude (eagles) or w/ a QB that catches fire for the playoffs/season. Its just those teams who get there w/o a star QB seem to fall off a cliff faster.
