We will speak to Ancelotti, Emery, Arteta, Perreira, Gallardo, Marcelino and appoint Moyes. Everton that, unambitious no matter what they tell us. On the plus side we will have a nice stadium for our midtable mediocrity finishes!!!!

Cant wait for Moyes sound bites, we are underdogs every game and the media Everton punching above their weight every season...... Passed all that now but I dont trust the board to make an ambitious appointment.

.....from this morning’s Racing Post, they asked 3 ‘experts’ their view on which manager is best suited to Everton.

From top to bottom; Ivor Davies (Sky Bet compiler); Jason McAteer; Rob Sutton (Racing Post). The end column is ‘who wins the League Cup”.

If every brain cell in Jason McAteer's head equated to a million pound in his bank account, he'd still be utilizing his overdraft facility.

That's the thing, mate. In an age of 24/7 news, if there is no news, they make it up or spin it to suit their own narrative.

If the RS were looking for a new manager, it would be all about how they're interviewing lots of candidates to ensure they make the right decision. As it's Everton, we've been rebuffed by all and sundry.

I take it all with a huge pinch of salt.

The original report was that Emery held talks with us and no offer came afterwards. Maybe both parties agreed at that stage that they wouldn’t take anything further. It’s probably just the spin Marca have put on it.

At this point we do not have any idea which potential candidates have been approached by the club nor which managers have applied . Any manager who has been contacted by the club , but not yet appointed will naturally distance himself from any speculation in case a job offer is not forthcoming especially if he is currently employed.
It does appear , however, that Moyes was contacted early on for an emergency role, and rejected it in the hope of a permanent appointment. Since then he has lobbied , through his media friends and snippets of information to the press, for the role.
I think the only result of this has been to cause some resentment among the hierarchy and greatly diminish his already small chance of any return.
Ferguson’s successful start to his caretaker role has allowed the club time to ensure due diligence and care to their search.
Nonetheless, my gut feeling is that at this point they know who they are going to appoint and will have concluded the appointment by the Arsenal game at the latest.
It definitely won’t be Moyes.

That Barca game was a one off absolute fluke where everything went right for them. Barça rested players. They got the absolute dream start with a freak own goal after 2mins. From there the Moyes bus was parked and Messi and neymar only came on in the 2nd half. And the clear cut chances created were all hit right at the keeper. Nothing to do with good coaching. % football....pack the defense and hope for the best. He was a mess over here. He left them where he found them, just above the relegation zone. My favorite stat at the time was I think during his stint here his team had the lowest shots on target of any team in the league. The absolute dullard. (I know you are not exactly claiming the Barça game was brilliant or that he is great or anything but it annoys me in general seeing me that mentioned as if it says something about him)

I cannot wait until this sense of dread goes away and it’s absolutely 100% certain we aren’t hiring him.

I don’t want him at Everton either. I also agree with you that I don’t think he’s in the running at this time. They’d have hired him by now if he was.

Moyes is also not responsible for the team Barcelona put out, what tactics they use, and which players are having an off day.

I’ve no idea about his time in Spain. I didnt watch a single Sociedad game while he was there. You clearly know more about it than me. I’ll have to take your word for the dire football that was played. I’m sure you’re right. No arguments from me there.

My point was that he was there for a year. Not 5 minutes. And that the squad/transfer policy (a side of academy trained players + 6 others) May have held him back a bit.
