News of Ex Players

…I’ve never warmed to the man, even when he was playing for us but there’s absolutely no doubt about him being the best goalkeeper I’ve seen in my days watching Everton. The unbelievable became the norm with him.
Charlton ended up at Preston and could still play ball in a suit and shoes that his players couldn't dream of doing. Innate ability is a frustration when it finds a lack thereof. It's easy being the best, because you know it and so does everyone else. But football isn't a solo sport, even if goalkeepers are a breed apart.

Some famous manager always eulogised over keepers being very different characters, and the better the keeper the more difficult was their personality.

If people can't handle Nev's opinions with a grain of salt then they shouldn't listen, if anyone has earned the right to critique someone in a blues shirt it's him. It doesn't help that he's known for fairly strong opinions and journo-hacks tailor their questions with that in mind.

…yep, it’s funny how goalkeepers are often badged as being a bit mad. Of course, Southall is like any individual in being fully entitled to his opinion and I’ve never had a problem with that.

Southall’s comments regarding Pickford are in poor taste.

Pickford is the sole reason we’re still a premier league club. You’d think with him being a keeper he’d want to acknowledge Jordan’s efforts.

I’ll say it and I’m sure 99% will disagree, but for me, there’s not that much between Jordan and Southall.

Horrible soulless club, loads of these lads will get lost in the system. Many are giving up on thier dreams, just for the financial benefit. Sad state of affairs.
When they are 32, with a supermodel wife and a place on the French Riviera, they'll not give two shiny sherbets they've been pampered and looked after for the previous 14 years.

Football is a business, only phenomenal talent gets to make a legacy, and that takes a lot of work. Phone it in, take the dough, get out while you can. What do you think agents are whispering in these lads ears from the age of 15 onwards...
