Southall was fantastic on one on ones, Pickford is good on reaction saves, but Southall was better.
 

Everyone's going to look average compared to Nev to be fair.

I understand where his head's at, it's not changed from when he was a player, epitomises NSNO, whether or not that's a good thing is another debate but he's earned his right to think and say whatever he thinks at this stage in his life.

You're born with that right, at least in civilized societies, it still doesn't mean you're right. He's clearly someone with a competitor's mentality though, hence his own success.

Modern players far quicker and more athletic,they take shots earlier.Would Southall be as good today,who knows. Would Pickford have been an outstanding keeper in the 80s,I think he would.

Pickford probably would have been outstanding in the 80's. Not as outstanding as Nev though. Nev was the best in the world for a time. As good as Pickford has been he will never be that

I love Pickford, but he’s not in the same galaxy as Southall. Fine keeper - my favourite Everton player - and hugely responsible for our continued status as a PL club. But Southall is all-time great legendary.

His dismissal of Pickord was for show. Typical Nev bluster. He has been a champion of Jordan in the media for years.

Not if the top of his game remains mid to lower PL level. I love him, but he’s needs trophies to enter the conversation with Southall. The top of his game was European trophies, league titles, and FA Cups.

That said, Pickford’s loyalty is endearing, but you never get kudos for that in tne harsh world of the greatness stakes without medals.
