News of Ex Players

Completely forgot about him. Wasn't he a player who never got much game time but a lot of people were desperate to for him to play?

8 appearances for us according to Wiki. Don't remeber him doing much wrong when he played but he didn't exactly tear it up either.

Had a great game against Chelsea. Don't remember much about his other appearances before he left, but was still pretty young at the time. Some ppl think every half decent youth player is the next Messi/Rooney and should be instantly starting every week as soon as they have a few good U21 appearances. But I did have hopes he could be our own home-grown Gana. We had a spate of bringing through lots of CMs who were good, but not quite PL level. Possibly he was another one of those.

Astley scored a late winner for Dundee vs Aberdeen, he's also signed a new contract there..

Does our academy produce better managers than players?!

….i’d very much doubt it. Joe Royle won an FA Cup as a manager but was also an England international as a player. Rooney arguably the most successful English footballer of all-time but pretty much a failed manager.

Schumacher a bit of a mixed bag as a manager, good luck to him.

….was only thinking the other day of ex-Everton players who have gone on to win the English title as a manager.

Arteta
Kendall
Catterick

Obvious ones. I can certainly think of a more obscure one but I suspect I’m missing a few?

Big club for the lad. Good luck.

Just checked his stats, double figures 2 seasons in a row (It's Bundesliga 2 mind)

Just been reading that in my paper under the headline “ Former Aberdeen attacker snapped up in Germany for
reported £3.75m”. I’m sure we bought him from Northampton as a young centre half and converted him into a striker, he scored a few for Scotland youth, u21 teams too . According to the paper he’s had a good career moving about in Europe and is looking forward to the challenge at Wolfsburg, good luck to him.

Wolfburg in BL2 next season after being relegated, but hopefully for him (and them) they can bounce back quickly.
